Home Made Chinese Ordnance

For the last week, the gunblogs have been sodden with posts about how a reporter was accidentally shot while attending a police press conference.

It seems that the cops were trying to show how professional they have been, with lots and lots of confiscated arms laid out for inspection. But someone forgot to check to make sure that a home made gun had been unloaded, and it discharged while a police officer was showing it around.

The Firearm Blog has pictures! Clickety clickety to see!

It appears that the grip, frame and trigger mechanism was taken from a cap gun toy. The barrels appear to be about the same bore size as our .410 shotguns, but I really doubt they could take the pressure generated from modern ammunition. Apparently the genius with the do-it-yourself gun factory thought so as well, since the reporter was blasted with a spray of "pebbles". They probably used a small charge of black powder, and loaded that bad boy with whatever they dug up in the garden.

The injured reporter is said to have undergone surgery, and he was wounded in his ankle, crotch and chest. Sounds like the surgery was little more than a tweezers and some local for the pain.

Go ahead and take a look! Just click on that last link above.
