Speaking of obesity (see below), I was watching Fox News a few days ago. The story was about how the Chicago Police Department was concerned about obesity levels amongst their officers, and were going to enact policies to combat overweight cops.
They had a fitness expert on to opine about this development, and I'm afraid that I didn't catch his name. Not that I'm all that interested in who he is since his remarks pissed me off.
To paraphrase he said that people don't just go to bed one day slim and trim, only to wake up the next morning obese and fat. Instead it takes a long period of time where bad decisions are made and bad judgment rules. "Do we really want these people to have a gun?" he asked.
Since I became offended by his remarks, it is obvious that I'm thick through the middle myself. And I carry a gun everywhere it is legal for me to do so. But I find it absurd that I would be a danger to the people around me just because I'm an armed citizen who also eats unhealthy food.
I mean, what does this idiot think I'm going to do? Start shooting up a burger joint because the line is too long at the counter?

This expert is a !@#$ing Twit, Yes there are alot of overweight police officers but the job makes them that way. Desipte what TV shows us 90% or more of the average police officers job is sitting on your ass in a cruiser waiting on calls or taking paper work. Unless you are actively trying out for a tactical unit you simply aren't putting the time in at the gym to stay in shape because you are working a job that is emotionally mentally and physically draining you just don't want to go to the gym before or after your shift. Since most of the police officers I know have to rely on caffinated beverages and fast food to help them through their shift their options are Tea, Coffee or soda all of which have calories. Couple this with the fact that when they go through a police academy they are more active from the mandatory P.T. and their metabolisim goes from being used to burning excess calories to a lifestyle with either the same or greater calorie intake with a drastic decrease in activity level, you are going to get a police officer that starts to put on pounds. I hope this "expert" gets a speeding ticket, because that is poor !@#$ing judgement and bad decision making!!!
