Chris shared a dream he had while I was driving to gaming.
He was on a road trip with some guy he knows from work, a fellow who is a big hunting enthusiast. They had to stop at a gas station, one of those places that offers deli sandwiches made to order.
Chris walked inside to buy a soft drink, passing an umbrella stand holding a number of shotguns on the way. Such is the logic of dreams that he didn't think it odd.
When he came out, soft drink in hand, he found his companion standing by the car. He was eating a sandwich and examining a new shotgun. It was a black tactical job, pump action, with a folding stock.
"Where did you get the gun?" Chris asked, which struck me as a sensible question even if it was a dream.
"I got it inside." was the reply. "They're doing a promotion. Buy a deli sandwich and the shotgun is just another ninety-nine cents."
Dream or no dream, ninety-nine cents for a shotgun! Chris was gonna get him one of those bad boys! But when he went inside and ordered his sandwich he found out that they had run out of guns, and he had run out of luck.
And so he woke up, bitterly disappointed.
They say that in dreams one may read the inner turmoils of a person's soul. I think Chris, who owns but a single shotgun, needs to think about getting a few more. And I think I know just what kind of gun he should start with.

Look at it this way. It is probably the only way he'll be able to get a good night's sleep from now on.
