Scoring Coke

One of the really loud secrets that is used by people who still cook at home is the use of sweet soft drinks when they glaze their ham. Mix a jar of cocktail cherries and 7-Up together, maybe with a dash of mustard, and you are pretty much golden.

Alashiya of The Next to Last Samurai fame just told me that she likes to use Coca-Cola that is bottled in Mexico. It would appear that they still use real sugar instead of corn syrup south of the border, resulting in a superior glaze.

Interesting idea.

Their vanilla is superior, too, in my opinion.

If you're alert, then in the run-up to Passover you can get Coke with real sugar in the US too, or so I have been told.

Hell, their sodas are superior, and because they use real sugar. Its not just mexican coke, but also the Jarritos brand of fruit sodas are an arm and a leg better than anything Coke/Pepsi has done.

There's a mexican mart near me; I'll have to check into those.
