One of my larger coworkers was eating his lunch at the offices the other day. I passed by him and saw that he was eating Oreo Double Stufs.
Nothing unusual in that, but he was also holding a small tupperware container. He was using the cookies to scrape out a generous portion of yellow paste with every bite. When I got close enough, I saw what looked like a stick of butter in the plastic box.
"You're dipping your Oreo's in butter." I said, voicing the obvious because I couldn't believe my eyes.
"It's only margarine." my coworker said before turning away with disinterest.
"Oh." I said, completely at a loss for words. "I suppose that's okay, then."

At least you can rest easier knowing that he wasn't eating lard anymore.
10 years ago, Nabisco replaced the lard with trans-fats, making it worse. Though last year, they took out the trans-fats.
Of course, in my opinion it is the sugar and white flour that is the problem, not the fat. :)
Ingredients: sugar, enriched flour (wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate [vitamin B1], riboflavin [vitamin B2], folic acid), partially hydrogenated soybean oil*, cocoa (processed with alkali), high fructose corn syrup, baking soda, cornstarch, salt soy lecithin (emulsifier), vanillin - an artificial flavor, chocolate
*The hydrogenated oil has been replaced with something else.

We have a girl at work the same way. She's on a diet which means two helpings instead of three, and drinking diet instead of regular soda.
I watched as she once took some holiday chocolate and dipped it in caramel before eating...while on a diet.

Eww!! Oreos dipped in margarine? That is just so disgusting sounding. I can't even imagine what would possess someone to try the combination.
The thought of it alone might turn me off Oreos forever.

That sounds absolutely vile tasting, not to mention the insane additional calorie count.
FYI, oreos have a varying composition of high oleic canola and palm oils now, so their pretty decent in moderation.
I'm going to have to disagree with Jack a bit:
I have a hard time imagining how non-white flour would be an even remotely sensible option for Oreos, and it hard to argue that picking up a bit of extra enriched vitamins and minerals is bad. The sugar, well, hell, they're cookies, if you inhale 30 a day, your diabetes risk has to be high, but otherwise, who cares.

Jack lives by the Atkins Diet, which means that he views starches and sugars as more dangerous than fats. That was what he meant when he spoke out against the flour.
And, of course, he stays away from the baked goods, cookies or no.
