I came across this website, apparently set up to sell James Bond merchandise and promote the new film. They have many articles about the Bond franchise, as well as the gear used by Britain's most famous spy.
I was moderately impressed by this essay on the PPK. Nothing new to a firearm enthusiast, but they went in to enough technical detail to make the article a bit more in depth than usual.
While browsing around, I came across an article about the 1967 Bond spoof entitled Casino Royale. This picture of Peter Sellers playing James Bond was featured.

All of my fellow gun nuts will notice right off that the actor is holding a Walther P-38, a much different gun than the Walther PPK that James Bond is supposed to have carried. But notice that he is holding the gun with his finger off the trigger! Not bad for an actor handling a prop on a movie set.

IIRC, Bond originally carried an P38 but was "upgraded" to an PPK at one point.

Fascinating write-up here of the various pistols carried by James Bond. I can't speak to it's accuracy, but it seems right to me.

I just watched "16 Blocks" which has utterly horrid gun handling in it, so the finger position definitely stands out.
As a side note on trigger+finger issues, has anyone read about the Heim studies involving unintentional trigger pressure under stress?

Oh, and to my mind, the P-38/P1/P5 series are definitely very closely related in engineering to the PP/PPK/PPKs. Granted the P-38 is a full size, major caliber pistol, but other than the locking block, it is damn close mechanically to a PPK. Sort of like a .380 Glock 25/28 and a Glock 19.
